Rhea M. Haugseth, DMD

Driven by Passion, Grounded in Experience

It’s not every day you meet someone as passionate about pediatric dentistry as Dr. Rhea Haugseth. While her list of accolades is long, it’s her energy, vision, and commitment to education that make her stand out.

How It All Began

Dr. Haugseth’s journey started at the University of Louisville Dental School, followed by a pediatric residency at Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital/Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. From the very beginning, her goal was clear: to provide exceptional care for children and to ensure that every pediatric dental team is well-trained and confident.

A Career Dedicated to Pediatric Dentistry

For more than three decades (1982–2017), Dr. Haugseth operated her own full-time pediatric dental practice in Atlanta, all while contributing nationally to the profession. She has served as:

  • National Spokesperson for the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) since 1989

  • Past President of the AAPD, Southeastern Society of Pediatric Dentistry (SSPD), and Georgia Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (GAPD)

  • Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry (and board examiner for 10+ years)

Her leadership roles and professional recognition extend across respected organizations, including the American College of Dentists, the International College of Dentists, the Pierre Fauchard Academy, and the Academy of Dentistry International.

Expanding Education Beyond the Clinic

Recognizing the need for stronger training pipelines, Dr. Haugseth founded:

  • Atlanta Pediatric Dental Assistant School (APDAS) in 2013

  • Pediatric Dental Team Association (PDTA) in 2014

  • Presentations at conferences throughout the world

Through these presentations and organizations, she ensures that current and future pediatric dental team members have access to practical, high-quality continuing education.

Beyond Dentistry

Dr. Haugseth has also dedicated her expertise to forensic dentistry. She served on the Board of Governors for the American Society of Forensic Odontology and is currently a Fellow and active member of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences. She is part of the National DMORT Mass Disaster Team (Region IV), providing forensic dental services during regional and national crises.

Our Mission

Dr. Haugseth believes every pediatric dental team member deserves access to education that strengthens both clinical skills and customer service. When teams are confident, families feel cared for, and children receive the very best in pediatric dental care.

At conferences, PDTA and the APDAS, we carry this mission forward—helping dentists build strong, skilled, and compassionate teams who make a difference every day.
