Founded in 2013, the PDAS trains the next generation of pediatric dental assistants. Students graduate ready to contribute from day one, with the confidence and skills that practices need most. The PDAS makes hiring easier by preparing assistants who are:

  • knowledgeable in pediatric-specific skills
  • hands-on trained for real office success
  • ready to join practices with minimal ramp-up time

One of my least favorite things about owning a pediatric dental office was hiring staff.

Whether I needed associate dentists, office or clinical staff, the whole process drained my energy. The thought of going through the advertising, interviewing, and selection process was as appealing as sitting through an 8-hour CE lecture with an instructor who sounds like Charlie Brown’s teacher in “Peanuts”. Wah, Wah, Wah! Can anyone relate? Anyone?

What’s worse was going through the hiring process only to find out three to six months later the person was a bad fit. And then you’re faced with an even more unpleasant task of firing them and hoping they didn’t wreak too much havoc while they were there. Then you get to repeat the entire process again!

Bringing a new hire into a dental practice is an enormous stress, whether you realize it or not. On you, on your staff, on your finances, and on your patients.

As a pediatric dentist, I found it nearly impossible to find a well-trained pediatric dental assistant (PDA). The only time I did was dumb luck…she/he had just moved into the area and had been trained on-the-job in another pediatric dental practice.

But this dumb luck sparked an idea. I thought, “Why can’t I be the one to train PDAs and send them off to other dental practices?

It also quickly dawned on me that as the trainer, I would have my pick of the best. And thus, the Pediatric Dental Assistant School (PDAS) was launched.

The dental assistants I’ve trained not only helped my own practice operate with well-trained, top assistants, but I was also able to help other pediatric dental offices in my area.

You can give yourself the same advantage!!!

The benefits of owning and running a Pediatric Dental Assistant School are many. But the most immediate payoffs are how it raises the quality and longevity of your dental assistant staff without the hassles of hiring and on-the-job training.

Students actually pay you to get trained by you! Read that again. They pay you to be trained by YOUR team, how you want things done in YOUR office,  all with the hope they may get to work for you!

Then, you decide if you want to hire them. Of course, you have no obligation to hire them…they are there to get excellent training. You just get the benefit of observing them while they learn.

It’s a win-win, for you and for the student. There are many other positives…a letter or email is insufficient to capture them all.
